The general objectives of this programme are a) to enable students to acquire knowledge of journalism, mass media and the scholarly study of such including the social, political, economic and historical contexts that affect news reporting, journalism practices as well as mass media as a whole; b) to familiarise students with the key contemporary issues and debates in the area of journalism and mass media studies and to provide them with the analytical skills to make sense of them. Furthermore, the research skills of the students will be developed to allow them to prepare for further studies in journalism. After the programme, students will be able to write journalistically and conduct scientific research thereby preparing them for a wide range of tasks in the media industry.
