This popular, intensive programme, taught in the world-leading Communications group, covers all the technologies that contribute to mobile speech and data communications. The graduates have found employment in the industrial and academic sectors, with many undertaking PhD research.
Semester 1: Computer networks; Digital transmission; Radio communications engineering; Research methods; Signal processing.
Semester 2: Cryptography and data compression; Integrated radio frequency transceiver design; Microsystems technology from lab on chip to mobile phone applications; Personal multimedia communications; Radio communications networks and systems.
Semester 3: 3-month, independent, individual research project, culminating in a dissertation.
Entry requirements
Upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (e.g. mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science); additional entry requirements for MSc Web Technology are noted under the Programme structure for this degree.
