The JEMES programme provides state-of-the-art education in the environmental field. It includes different teaching approaches, industry expertise and research competencies. JEMES interweaves research-based courses and intensive practical work exercises, often in co-operation with industry.

All aspects of environmental engineering, management and technologies are comprehensively dealt with:

  • Ecological sanitation; treatment technologies for water, liquid and solid waste, soil and sediments; modelling of coastal and river morphology; assessment and prediction of pollutants behaviour; bio-engineering,
  • Physics and chemistry of air pollution and air quality management, including monitoring and modelling tools; water and waste water quality and treatment,
  • Environmental Management, with a special focus on Ecological Economics; Global Change and Industrial Ecology,
  • Environmental planning and management; Energy planning and management; Cleaner production; environmental assessment methodologies.

Students will enjoy an excellent learning environment in which they learn to integrate theory and practice by solving practical problems with a well-developed academic baggage and attitude, and approaching theoretical problems with a practically relevant perspective.

JEMES is an international top-level programme selected by the European Union to be part of ERASMUS MUNDUS, a scheme to support integrated Master's courses of outstanding academic quality and mobility.
