The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen offers a modern and practice-oriented course of studies founded on fundamental principles. The programme of studies reflects recent changes in the profession. The content of the course of studies has been expanded to include courses in the economic and environmental aspects of engineering, offered alongside traditional subjects.Other key areas which are supportive complement this modern concept.

In the course of the Bachelor's studies the modules of the whole spectrum of the civil engineering profession are on the one hand compulsory, on the other hand there are four different subject areas which can be freely chosen.
